Yolanda M. (Malandruccolo) Varieur, 91, of Messenger Street, Plainville, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Charles H. Varieur who died in March, 1991. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on September 13, 1922; she was a daughter of the late Luigi and Cora Marie "Mamie" (Tetreault) Malandruccolo. Mrs. Varieur was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1942. When she was young she took music lessons by Lina Mustillo and entertained troops at Camp Miles Standish. She had been a wedding singer and was broadcasted singing Christmas songs. Mrs. Varieur also was recognized by the former mayor of Attleboro John McIntyre and made a record of "Ave Maria". Mrs. Varieur did a high school project on Capron Park which left a lasting impression on her. Capron Park then became the venue for family functions when her daughter was young. She worked as a telephone operator in the Attleboro AT&T office and was Director of Information at Wheaton College in Norton prior to her retirement in 1976. Mrs. Varieur enjoyed her rock garden and crocheting, particularly afghans. She taught CCD locally and attended St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro. Mrs. Varieur leaves behind her daughter: Joscelyn Varieur, of Plainville; a niece and nephew: Lauretta Alegria and her husband, Mark; Lawrence Brassard and his wife, Bonny. She was also survived by her great-nephews and niece: Sean Walsh, Ben Alegria, Jackie Alegria and great-great niece Skylar Alegria. She was predeceased by her sisters and brother: Eleana Brassard, Lauretta Reynolds and Lawrence Malandruccolo. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 St. John's Place, Attleboro. Burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro. A Collation to follow burial at the Olive Garden in South Attleboro.
