William "Bill" Henry Mackinnon Jr.

William "Bill" Henry MacKinnon Jr., 72, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of Judith "Judy" Ann (Obrist) MacKinnon, to whom he was married on September 16, 1995.
Born on July 31, 1946 in Attleboro, MA, he was the son of the late William Henry MacKinnon Sr., and the late Eileen (Nelson) Mackinnon.
A graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1964, he received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Colorado and his Master's Degree from Bryant College. He enjoyed working as a Special Needs teacher for ten years in the Mansfield High School and for fifteen years in the Foxboro High School. Bill was also employed as a Project Manager for eleven years at Higher Enterprises in Walpole, MA, before retiring in 1996.
A resident of North Attleboro for the past twenty-eight years, he previously lived in Attleboro, where he was a member of Second Congregational Church.
Bill was a patient, outgoing, caring man. He enjoyed fishing from his boat; both snow and water skiing; coaching Pop Warner football; and woodworking; having crafted toys which he donated and displayed at craft fairs. He held a special place in his heart for his cat, "Lady", but more than anything in his life, he deeply loved his family.
In addition to his wife, Judy, he leaves his loving children: Michael A. MacKinnon; Sharon D. MacKinnon; and David W. Mackinnon, all of Attleboro, MA. He was the dear step-father of Kimberlee A. Obrist of St. Louis, MO; and Kristan M. Benson of Portland, OR. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of Rachael E. Cordeiro, Joshua R. Cordeiro, and Erik W. Cordeiro. Bill was the brother of Cathy Mackinnon and her wife, Annette N. MacKinnon of Fairfax, VT, and the late Denis MacKinnon, who died in 1997. He leaves his extended family members and many dear friends. Bill was the former husband of the late Dianne M. (Jette) MacKinnon, who died on October 16, 2011.
Friends and relatives are cordially invited to honor and remember Bill by gathering for a Visitation on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 6:30 p.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.
Burial will be private.
Flowers are accepted, or memorial donations may be made in memory of Bill to a charity of one's choice.
