Obituary

William "Bill" Norbert Bowie, 94, loving husband of Beverly Bowie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Life Care Center in Attleboro.

Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on June 16, 1931, he was the eldest son of the late Norbert and Margaret (Walsh) Bowie. After graduating from Braintree High School in 1949 he went on to earn his bachelor's degree and then MBA from Harvard University.

Between earning his degrees, Bill joined the Navy and was commissioned as a Junior Officer, spending part of his time in a submarine somewhere in the Southern Atlantic Ocean.

Upon returning home from the Navy, Bill met Beverly. The two were married in October of 1958.

He began his work life briefly in Corning NY, and then relocated to Attleboro, MA with his young family, where he lived for the rest of his life. His successful career took him on a few different paths. Working for Corning and then Texas Instruments, throughout the jewelry industry, in different managerial roles and eventually in Finance, retiring in 1998 from Palmer and Dodge in Boston, MA.

Bill had many interests, a quest for knowledge and never stopped learning. He cared deeply for the communities he lived in and was involved in countless, too many to name, organizations throughout his long life. Bill was a proud member of the Attleboro Jaycees, which he joined when he first moved to Attleboro. In the Jaycees he met many who would become lifelong friends. Most notably, he eventually became a member of the Attleboro School Committee, serving as the Chairperson for many years.

In Retirement, Bill and Bev split their time between Attleboro and Brewster, MA. As part of the Ocean Edge Community in Brewster, he was President of the Condo Association into his late eighties. He worked hard to build connections and to help make any community he was a part of better.

Any who had the chance to know Bill will remember his endearing sense of humor, with the grin that followed a joke, his civic mindedness and his love for family.

Bill leaves his devoted wife of 67 years, Beverly Bowie of Attleboro, MA; his children, Kevin Bowie of Attleboro, MA, Patricia Bowie (Carletta) of Brewster, MA, Susan McCarthy (Steven) of Hopkinton, MA, and Robert Bowie (Dorothy) of San Francisco, CA; and his grandchildren, Erin, Neil, Libby, Maggie, Austin, Catherine, Thomas and Garrett. Along with his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother, Richard Bowie and his son, David Bowie.

The family would like to thank Life Care Center of Attleboro and the wonderful, kind and caring community of caregivers (and staff) who lovingly took care of Bill for the last year of his life.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a visitation from 10AM - 12PM, immediately followed by a service starting at 12PM on Monday, May 18, 2026. All services will be held at Dyer Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02763.

The family will also hold a Celebration of Life, date to be determined, in the Summer of 2026 on the Cape.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in Memory of William Bowie, to either the Purplestride Boston 2026 PanCan Fundraiser (The Kickin' it for Kristen Team):
