Willa Jane Hamant

Willa Jane Hamant, 89, of Burt Street, North Attleboro, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Golden Living Center - Attleboro where she had resided since January 29, 2012. Born in Plainville, Massachusetts on March 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Harding and Lucy E. (Hazlet) Hamant. Miss Hamant was raised and educated in Plainville where she was a 1943 graduate of the former Plainville High School. She later attended Wheaton College. She was employed as a secretary for Allendale Insurance Company for many years prior to her retirement. Miss Hamant moved to North Attleboro from her native Plainville more than 40 years ago. She was a member of Central Congregational Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls where she served on the Mission Committee. She was a former member of Murray Unitarian Universalist Church. Since her younger years, she had a love for the opera and opera music that brought her a sense of peace and tranquility. Miss Hamant was a former member of the Live Y'ers at the Hockomock Area YMCA in North Attleboro. She leaves three generations of nieces and nephews including her niece: Janice E. Tucker of Taunton. She was the sister of the late Adeleve A. Hamilton. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. A Memorial Service Celebrating Her Life will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Central Congregational Church, 115 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Carole L. Baker, Pastor, officiating. An invitation will be extended to join her family and friends for a time of continued fellowship in the church following services. Burial will be private in the Plainville Cemetery, Plainville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Memorial Gifts Fund of Central Congregational Church, PO Box 1319, Attleboro Falls, MA 02763 or to the Epilepsy Foundation New England Donation Center, 357 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington, MA 01887.
