Walter "Wally" Richard Woodard, 57, of Pine Street, Attleboro, died on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on September 11, 1954, he was a son of the late Charles R. and Louise Ruth (Stuart) Woodard. He was a resident of Attleboro since 1995 having previously resided in the Quincy and Boston areas. Previously, Mr. Woodard was employed as a pin setter for the Kenmore Square Bowling Alley in Boston for ten years. As an avid sports fan Mr. Woodard loved the New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox and he also enjoyed playing cards. He was a board member of the Greater Attleboro Women of Today and was a board member of the State Board of Massachusetts Women of Today. A longtime volunteer with numerous organizations, Mr. Woodard volunteered his time for the local Walk for Hunger, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, the Greater Attleboro Relay for Life, the MS Great Bike Getaway and for numerous local soup kitchens in the greater Attleboro area. He leaves two sisters: Louise R. Orum of Attleboro and Nellie Jane Boucher of Derry, New Hampshire; two brothers: Charles R. Woodard of Lawrence and Richard R. Woodard of Lawrence; numerous nieces and nephews including: Margaret "Maggie" E. Horrigan of North Attleboro; numerous great nieces and nephews including: Samantha L. Orum of North Attleboro and Ashley L. Horrigan of North Attleboro and countless close friends whom he cherished like family. He was the brother of the late Helen Edith Hazeltine, Paul Allen Woodard and Florence Mae Polvere. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 4:00 - 6:30 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with a funeral service commencing at 6:30 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Lea Snyder of the First Baptist Church, South Main Street, Attleboro, officiating. Visitation will continue following the funeral service until 8:00 PM. Burial will be private. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral.
