Wallace "Wally" John Collito, 98, of Spring Hill, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the HPH Hospice Care Center in Brooksville, FL. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann Rita (Goditt) Collito, who died on March 29, 2006.Born on October 5, 1919 in North Attleboro, MA, he was the son of the late Nicholas Collito and the late Antoinette (DiFiori) Collito.Wally proudly and honorably served our country as a member of the United States Army from 1942 until 1945 during World War II, as a Second Class Gunner, a Combat Infantryman, an Anti-Tank Crewman, and as a Corporal. He was variously stationed in Sicily, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, and in Central Europe. Wally served with distinction, being awarded the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service star.He was a former member of St. Mary's Church in North Attleboro and the Disabled American Veterans. Wally was the loving father of Jack Collito of Attleboro, MA, and the late Ronald Collito, and leaves his dear daughter-in-law, Cheryl Collito of Spring Hill, FL. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Wally was predeceased by his siblings: Harry Collito, Louise Collito, Mary Burke, Emily Pinnaseault, Susan Martin, and Joseph Collito, and leaves several nieces and nephews.Friends and family are cordially invited to attend Funeral and Graveside Services with Full Military Honors on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 9:00 a.m., in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at which time Wally will be laid to rest alongside his dear late wife, Ann.
