Walter Frank French, Jr., 66, of Bayberry Commons Nursing Facility; Pascoag, Rhode Island; formerly North Attleboro and Plainville; died on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island from the heartbreak of losing both his parents within the last seven months. Born in Attleboro, Massachsuetts on February 14, 1947, he was a son of the late Walter F. French, Sr. who died on July 22, 2012 and Rita Bertha (Chabot) French who died on September 24, 2012. Raised in Plainville, Mr. French was a graduate of King Philip Regional High School from which he graduated with high honors and was a member of the school Latin club. He enjoyed oceanography and was offered a full scholarship to the former Southeastern University. A great athlete in his youth, Mr. French was scouted by the Boston Red Sox. A longtime communicant of St. Martha Parish in Plainville, Mr. French served as an altar boy in his youth beside his beloved brother, David. In later years, he was a member of the church bowling league. Many years ago, Mr. French was employed for two years at B & J Manufacturing Company in Attleboro. He treasured the times spent fishing, playing bingo, spending the time at the pool, ice skating, time spent at the Hockomock Area YMCA and at the cove at Turnpike Lake in Plainville. In earlier years, Mr. French enjoyed being an avid swimmer and a member of the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. French adored his parents and cherished the years spent with them. He leaves his siblings: David L. French of North Attleboro; Linda R. Campbell of Warwick, Rhode Island; Gary R. French of Lillian, Alabama; Dale T. French of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Nancy M. Harding of Douglas; Marie D. Smith of Warwick, Rhode Island and Kathy A. Linfield-Acheson of Norton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Monday morning, February 25, 2013 from 8:30 - 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Monday morning, February 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Martha Roman Catholic Church, 227 South Street, Plainville with the Rev. William Lohan, officiating. Private burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Children's room available during visitation and while the cortege is being organized.
