Virginia G. (Barney) Tucker, 89, of Christopher Heights, South Main Street, Attleboro died on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Golden Living Center - Garden Place, Attleboro, where she had been a resident for the past two weeks. She was the wife of the late Clarence Steven Tucker to whom she was married on November 29, 1941 and who died on November 15, 2002. Born in Seekonk, Massachusetts on March 29, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Roger and Grace (Emerson) Barney. She grew up on the family farm in Seekonk with her parents and siblings. In 1941, Mrs. Tucker met and married the milkman by the name of Clarence Steven Tucker. They resided in Valley Falls, Rhode Island for a short time followed by residency in Central Falls, Rhode Island and later in Limerock, Rhode Island. She moved to Seekonk in 1950 where she resided until 1977 when she moved to Attleboro. until 1994. In 1994, Mrs. Tucker moved to North Attleboro where she was a resident until returning to the City of Attleboro in 2001 when she called Christopher Heights her new home. One of the first residents of Christopher Heights, Mrs. Tucker loved the friendships she developed and maintained in her new home and served as an Ambassador of the complex welcoming and providing tours for prospective newcomers. She was a dedicated and devoted homemaker to her family and treasured the times spent creating lifelone memories to cherish. Mrs. Tucker was a longtime member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Seekonk. In earlier years, she and her husband enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Freelance Twirlers and, along with her family, enjoyed camping. She was the mother of Robert S. Tucker of Johnston, Rhode Island; Richard A. Tucker of Attleboro; David W. Tucker, Sr. of Seekonk; William R. Tucker of Attleboro; Carolyn A. Gray of Leesberg, Florida and Joyce E. Hodges of Lempster, New Hampshire; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren with a 27th expected; 4 great great grandchildren; her siblings: Eleanor Reed of Attleboro; Roger Barney of Attleboro and Beverly Garrity in Florida and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was the mother of the late Nancy V. Venditti who died in 2002 five days prior to Mrs. Tucker's husband. Friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A Funeral Service to which family and friends are invited to attend will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston, Rhode Island. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
