Vincent "Vinny" F. Coady, Jr. passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at Epoch Senior Health Care of Norton in Norton, MA at the age of 92. He was born March 9, 1921 in Attleboro, MA. He was the devoted husband of the late Ruth E. (Brown) Coady to whom he was married for 43 years. Vinny was also preceded in death by his father Vincent F. Coady, Sr.; mother Eva (Blais) (Coady) Gamache; brother Norman Coady; sister Doris "Dot" (Coady) Miller; and Viola "Vicki" (Ewing) Hephner, his first wife and mother of his daughters. Vincent is survived by three daughters: Roberta "Bobbi" Haque of Taos, NM; Judith "Judy" (Cecil) Fanning of Newton, KS; and Karen (Tony) Clark of Wichita, KS as well as seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three nieces. He will be remembered for his smile, his dry sense of humor and quick wit, and his wonderful artistic talent. Vincent served in WWII and was inducted into federal service with the National Guard, Company I, 101st Infantry on January 15, 1941. Two years later he was transferred to Company I, 328th Infantry (Sgt. Alvin York's old outfit) for 9 months, then served in the Army Air Corps with the 236th US Army Air Force Base Unit. He worked as an Electrical Machine Gunner on the B-29 and earned the rank of Sergeant. He received an Honorable Discharge on November 5, 1945. He retired from Jostens in 1986 (est.) as a model cutter and had formerly worked for Balfour Co. He was an avid downhill skier at Wachusetts. He loved ballroom dancing and spent many evenings at "Mosley's On the Charles" in Dedham, MA where he rarely if ever sat out a dance. He was always interested in the arts and especially enjoyed working with oil paints and pastels but was also a gifted sculptor. He was a member of the Rockport, Foxboro, and Attleboro Art Associations. He had attended St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro, MA. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 12:00 noon at St John's Cemetery, 165 West Street, Attleboro. All those who knew and loved him are invited to attend the graveside service.
