Vina Virendra Joshi M.D.

Vina Virendra Joshi, M.D., of North Easton, MA and Ahmedabad, Gujrat, India, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA.  She was the beloved wife of Virendra H. Joshi, whom she married on May 15, 1972.  Her strength, loving spirit, and irresistible smile live on in her three daughters: Komal V. Joshi of New York City, NY; Paulomi V. Joshi of Boston, MA; and Namita V. Joshi of Madison, NJ.
Born on May 10, 1948, in Bharuch, Gujrat, India, Vina was the daughter of the late Dhirubhai Desai and the late Lalita Desai. Dr. Joshi received her medical degree in India, immigrated to the United States with the family in July 1981 and began practicing family medicine in Massachusetts in 1986. From 1986 to 1995, she was a solo practitioner in the field of family medicine, helping innumerable people live their best and healthiest lives.  She continued that mission as a family medicine physician for Signature Healthcare in Brockton, MA, working tirelessly until her retirement in 2020. Dr. Joshi was a proud longtime member of the Indian Medical Association of New England.
Throughout the community, Vina was famous for her strong faith, great integrity, and extraordinary will power.  She was an avid traveler who enjoyed trips throughout the world - but she never enjoyed anywhere more than her beloved India.  Her family and friends will forever cherish her generosity, her laughter, and most importantly, the love she shared with all of them so unselfishly.
Vina was the dear sister of Vikram D. Desai and his wife, Surma V. Desai, of Los Angeles, CA; and the late Dilip D. Desai and his wife, Jagruti Desai in India. She leaves several nieces and nephews:  Pranav R. Joshi, Darshana R. Vyas, Ankur V. Desai, Amar D. Desai, and Abhishek D. Desai; her extended family both near and far; and so many dear friends, colleagues and patients. Vina held a special place in her heart for her cats:  Luv and Kush; and her three grandcats:  Prabhu, Ritesh and Reshma.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you please donate to a cause that you support at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Signature Healthcare, or an organization or temple of your choice on Vina's behalf.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation and Hindu Ritual Service on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, followed by a Traditional Hindu Ritual and Cremation Service at 3:00 p.m. at North Purchase Crematory, Attleboro, MA. Please know that Vina would never want anyone to risk their health, so we will be adhering to all applicable COVID-19 precautions, including mandatory social distancing and use of face masks out of respect for her career as a physician.
