Valerie Jean (Smith) Zagami

October 4, 1952 — March 30, 2022

Valerie J. (Smith) Zagami, 69, of Norton, MA since 2003, formerly a resident of North Attleboro, MA; died on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, surrounded by the love of her daughters following a stoic health battle.  She was the wife of the late Louis Zagami who died on December 12, 1985, and former wife of Allan Murrant of Taunton, MA.
Born in Norwood, MA on October 4, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Donald L Smith and the late Dorothy (King) Smith.  Raised and educated in Walpole, MA, Valerie was a graduate of Walpole High School and attended fashion design school.
An artistic woman with a sense of creativity, her family came first and friends and even strangers a close second.  She quite literally would do anything she could to help others in the largest or smallest ways and she lived her life with the utmost optimism despite overcoming adversities.
Since 2005, Valerie was a familiar face to faculty, staff, and clients at the ARC of Bristol County in Attleboro as a board member and former chairperson of the board.  Previously, she was the owner and operator of Tea & Trinkets in North Attleboro and was employed by the Town of North Attleboro Building Department.
While living in North Attleboro, she dedicated herself to civic and community service having served as a Selectwoman, member of the Finance Committee, member of the North Attleboro School Committee, chairwoman of the Parent Teacher's Organization, Scout Leader, Attleboro Community Council member, member of the board of directors of the United Way of Greater Attleboro/Taunton, member of the Community Impact organization and member of the former North Attleboro-Plainville Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to her former husband, she leaves three children whom she was tirelessly devoted to: Andrea Willette and her husband, Leonard Willette, of Shirley, MA; Melanie Amorim of Seekonk, MA and Joseph Zagami and his wife, Karen Zagami, of Casa Grande, Arizona; two cherished grandchildren: Nikolas Amorim and Nathan Amorim both of Seekonk, MA and many extended family members and dear colleagues and friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Life Reception on Friday, April 8, 2022, 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, 10:30 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro, MA where Valerie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Louis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Valerie may be made to the Valerie Zagami Memorial Fund of the ARC of Bristol County, 141 Park Street, Attleboro, MA 02703 to ensure her legacy of helping others continues.
