Urmila Rasiklal Shah, 83, of Sharon, MA, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. She was the beloved wife of the late Rasiklal Shah who passed away on October 1, 2013.
Born on January 5, 1936 in India, she was the daughter of the late Devidas Shah and the late Jaya (Harkhchand) Shah.
Raised and educated in India, Urmila came to the United States on June 15, 2014, where she since resided in Sharon.
A loving and warm woman of deep faith and devotion, she mindfully adhered to Jain traditions both at home and in temple. She was an exceptionally organized, practical and disciplined woman with remarkable willpower. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Indian television. Urmila truly cherished her family and loved spending time with her family, especially with her treasured grandchildren.
She was the loving mother of Neela Shroff and her husband, Rajan, of Virginia and India; and Hemant R. Shah and his wife, Priti, of Sharon, MA, with whom she made her home. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of Rohan Shroff of India, Esha Shah of Sharon, MA, and Ishaan Shah of Sharon, MA. Urmila leaves three sisters and two brothers, and was predeceased by two brothers. She is survived by many friends and her extended family, both near and far.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation and Hindu Ritual Service on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, followed by a Traditional Hindu Service and Cremation Service at 5:30 p.m. at Woodlawn North Purchase Crematory, Attleboro, MA.
