Townsend Keers, 78, of Attleboro, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at home in Attleboro. He was the husband of the late Mildred E. (Miller) Keers to whom he was married for fifty years prior to her death on August 25, 2010. Born in Suffern, New York on December 23, 1933, he was a son of the late William and Josephine (Townsend) Keers. Mr. Keers was raised and educated in Suffern, New York where he was a graduate of Suffern High School. He later attended S.U.N.Y and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was employed as Accounting Manager for Bead Chain Manufacturing in Bridgeport, CT prior to his retirement in 1985. After living in Watertown, CT for 46 years, Townsend and his wife moved to Attleboro, MA in 2010. He treasured the times spent gardening, woodworking and cooking; however, his greatest love was creating lifelong memories with his cherished family and his canine companions. He leaves four children: Peter T. Keers of Sandy, Utah; Joanne E. Keers of Attleboro; Nancy L. (Keers) Falk of Attleboro and Brian E. Keers and Elizabeth Bicio of Terryville, Connecticut; two grandchildren: Jameson T. Keers of Riverton, Utah and Lindsay E. Falk of Attleboro; a sister-in-law: Margaret Bonola and her husband, Leo Bonola, of Bristol, Connecticut; Carol Miller of Waterbury, Connecticut and Elsie P. Keers of Watertown, Connecticut; two generations of nieces, nephews and extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brother William T. Keers, his sister-in-law and her husband Mary Ethel Gray and George Gray, his brother-in-law James A. Miller and his son-in-law Andrew Falk. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 3:00 PM at St. John's Episcopal Church, Waterbury, Connecticut. A private burial will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro with the Rev. Katheryn C. Keene, officiating.
