Thomas William Publicover, 82, of Fairhaven, MA, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. He was the loving husband of Bernice (Campbell) Publicover, to whom we was married on August 31, 1968. Born on August 5, 1933 in Boston, MA, he was a son of the late Robert Publicover and MaryAnn (Chisolm) Publicover. Thomas proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1951 until 1955, when he was honorably discharged from service, having received the National Defense Service Ribbon. Before his retirement in 1998, he was employed by Meredith Management in Malden, MA and also by the Domino Sugar Refinery in Charlestown, MA. He had a special place in his heart for Veterans. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors, the American Legion, and a friend of Bill W. Thomas tremendously enjoyed volunteering at Battleship Cove in Fall River, gardening, reading, playing poker and cribbage with family and friends, and traveling, especially to PEI. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved children: Michael, Tommy, MaryAnn and Joseph; four cherished grandchildren; and one treasured great-grandchild. He was the brother of Joe Publicover of Buzzards Bay MA, and leaves numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Thomas was the brother of the late Jim, Robert, Jack, Ann and Jean. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
