Thomas John Laurila, 66, of Attleboro, MA passed away unexpectedly at his residence on January 3, 2026.
Born in Leominster, MA on June 7, 1959, he was a son of the late John Emil Laurila and the late Helen Regina (Brown) Laurila, R.N. He was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro where he was a graduate of Attleboro High School where he excelled in sports and earned an associate degree from Bristol Community College.
He was employed by Acosta as a member of their Retail Gillette team.
Tom loved basketball, having played, coached and been a fan of the Boston Celtics. He and his brother, David, were basketball coaches on the middle and high school levels in the City of Attleboro. He played in various leagues throughout his life.
His favorite pastimes included listening to music, particularly Bob Dylan, Charlie Daniels and Joe Crocker. In addition, he was an ardent reader and treasured the times making cherished memories with his family, in particular his daughters who described him as the "World's #1 Dad".
He leaves his two daughters: Mary Theresa Laurila of Attleboro, MA, Sarah Marie Laurila of Attleboro, MA and joins his son, Ian Thomas Laurila; his siblings: Peter A. Laurila of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; James R. Laurila of Florence, MA; Amy Jo (Laurila) Ardnt of Poughkeepsie, New York and David M. Laurila of Attleboro, MA; many nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Family and friends are warmly welcome to attend Visitation on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 5:30 pm in the "Memorial Chapel: of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Funeral Service at 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm in the "Memorial Chapel".
Private burial will be in North Purchase Cemetery, North Main Street, Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
