Thomas William Izzo, 65, affectionately known as "Tommy" to his family, of Natick, MA, passed away at his residence on November 23, 2024, after a recent illness.
Born in Boston, MA on October 18, 1959, he was a son of Teresa (Grillo) Barokas of Mansfield, MA and the late William Carl Izzo.
Raised and educated in Walpole, MA, Mr. Izzo was a 1977 graduate of Walpole High School and earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the former Southern Massachusetts University in Dartmouth, MA, now UMASS Dartmouth.
Mr. Izzo was employed as a software engineer and was a lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
He loved to laugh and appreciated good humor, and he loved cats and got a real kick out of their antics. He was highly regarded by those he worked with and by his many friends and neighbors.
A lifelong lover of science and space exploration, he particularly enjoyed the Apollo space program and events. He was a member of The Planetary Society.
He enjoyed many types of music but especially enjoyed listening to classic rock, jazz and the sounds of the big band era.
Dining out, times spent at the ocean, traveling to tropical destinations, caring for his plants, and reading about science and history were among the things he enjoyed.
He treasured the times running and cycling and enjoying a good glass of wine or microbrew.
In addition to his mother, his family includes his brother: Gary Steven Izzo and his wife, Janine Mary Izzo, of Norton, MA; his niece: Christina Izzo McLaughlin of Norton, MA and his nephew: Steven Izzo of Norton, MA.
Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA. A Funeral Service will commence at the conclusion of visitation in the "Memorial Chapel".
A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Walpole, MA where he will be laid to rest with his beloved father.
