Thomas "Scotty" Garrott, 88 L. G. Balfour Company Retiree Thomas "Scotty" Garrott, 88, of Thacher Street, Attleboro, died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro where he had resided since November. He was the beloved husband of Jane S. C. (Russell) Garrott to whom he was married on August 1, 1946. Born in Montrose, Scotland on August 15, 1922, he was a son of the late George and Mary (Kennedy) Garrott. He was raised and educated in Scotland where he resided until immigrating to the United States and settling in Attleboro in 1950. In Scotland, Mr. Garrott was a member of the Home Guard of Scotland and was employed as an engineer following his service as a seven-year apprentice engineer. Once in Attleboro, Mr. Garrott was employed by L. G. Balfour Company as a jewelry polisher for 38 years prior to his retirement. He resided in Attleboro since 1950 and was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Attleboro since 1953. Mr. and Mrs. Garrott treasured the time spent taking cruises and over the years enjoyed sailing on more than 60 ships around the world. A member of the Balfour Golddusters, Mr. Garrott enjoyed the time spent creating woodworking projects, oil painting and performing yard work. He was a dedicated and devoted Boston Red Sox fan. In addition to his wife of 64 years, he leaves a daughter: Jane-Anne Bachand and her husband, Robert A. Bachand, of North Attleboro; two grandchildren: Jennifer L. Norige of Hudson and Jessica L. Wilton of Hudson; two great grandchildren: Ava L. Norige of Hudson and Aidan L. Norige of Hudson and several nieces and nephews and extended family members. He was the father of the late Mary "May" R. Gagner and was the twin brother of the late Ernest Garrott and was the brother of the late Jean McNeil and Jack Garrott. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. F. Vernon Wright, Pastor of Second Congregational Church, Park Street, Attleboro, officiating. Burial with bagpiper honors will follow in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro.
