Thomas Gordon Flett

April 27, 1937 — January 7, 2024

Thomas Gordon Flett, 86, of Norton, MA passed away on January 7, 2024, at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI.  He was the beloved husband of Estelle Marie (Stoddart) Flett to whom he was married on April 25, 1987.
Born in Boston, MA on April 27, 1937, he was a son of the late Thomas Simpson Flett and the late Barbara A.  (Luggelle) Flett.
Tom was a graduate of Rindge Tech in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Mr. Flett was an extremely proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard and was honored to serve his country in active and reserve duties with the United States Army for a combined period of 27 years.
He was employed as a bus driver for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority for more than 23 years and enjoyed every day.  Later he served as a bus driver for the Michael J. Connolly Bus Company and for the Town of Sharon for many years.
Thomas was a member of the American Legion Post 222 in Norton.  A member of the Pequossette Lodge A.M. & F.M at the Watertown Masonic Center for more than 50 years,
He was an honored member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Massachusetts Pequossette Chapter #141 where he served as worthy Patron numerous times beginning in 1974-1975 and proudly received his 50-year pin.  He later transferred to the Hope Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Attleboro.  He was a member of the MBTA Union - Local 589.
Thomas loved music of all genres.  He particularly loved recalling times with his Dad and sisters playing the guitar and singing growing up and long after.  He was a proud New York Giants football fan and shared his love for them with his family,  the house was never quiet when they were on.  His love for sports did not stop with them but also included the Boston Red Sox and the Celtics, too.
He enjoyed watching Western movies, and always found one he had not seen and wished his Dad could have been with him.  He played softball with the MBTA for many years and enjoyed every minute of it.
Driving was not only his profession but he found pleasure when he could drive endlessly, enjoying every minute of it as driving was his favorite choice of transportation.
Thomas cherished the time spent with his family and his beloved canine and feline companions, Jessie and the late Sally May, Abigail and Gibbs.
He enjoyed playing the guitar, was an ardent sports fan, loved music, and cherished the time spent with his family and with his  beloved canine companions, "Jesse" and the late "Sally May".
He was the father of the late Michael Gordon Flett, the late Gregory James Flett, Stephen T. Flett in Florida; Andrea Cucinotta of Plymouth, MA;  Heidi Itani of Woonsocket, RI; Heather Demos of Marlborough, MA; Jillian Flett of Denver, CO and Thomas Leo Flett in North Carolina, currently serving in the military. He was the grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Geraldine Penovi,  the late Barbara Tovar, Roberta Swart of Melrose, MA and Judy Nigro in New Jersey.
Thomas was the beloved cousin of David Flett of Maine and the late Robert Flett.
In addition, he leaves several nieces,  nephews and many dear friends.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 9:00 am  until 10:00 am in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am.
Burial with full military honors will follow funeral services at 12:30 pm at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
