Thomas F. Doherty

May 18, 1954 — May 11, 2024

Thomas F. Doherty, age 69, of North Attleboro, MA passed away unexpectedly at home on May 11, 2024, following a brief illness.
Born in Taunton and raised in No. Dighton, he was the loving son of the late Dr. Thomas F. Doherty and Dorothy K. (Higgins) Doherty. Tom attended Sacred Heart grammar school and Coyle Cassidy High School in Taunton, where he was a standout player for the baseball team. He went on to play hockey, and captained the local men's hockey team, the Norsemen, continuing to play throughout his college years. Tom was a 1976 graduate of Providence College, and a communicant of St. Mark's parish in North Attleboro.
Tom was the beloved husband of Mary (Donahue) Doherty. He is survived by his sons, Thomas and Brendan, Brendan's wife Sabrina, granddaughter Charlotte, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the dear brother of Briana Doherty of Franklin. He was predeceased by his sister Eileen Van Zandt of Mansfield.
Tom spent most of his career in the steel industry, notably as General Manager of National Steel in Randolph, MA and more recently as a manufacturer's rep for Feroleto Steel and Toyota Tsusho America.
Some of his happiest times were spent coaching his sons' little league baseball teams during the 1990's. He will always be remembered for his love of family, incredible sense of humor, engagement in the Boston-New York sports rivalry, and enjoyment of a good political debate.
At the family's request, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
