BROWN, THOMAS J. (73) husband of Jean Goulder Brown died unexpectedly at RI Hospital on January 27, 2012. Tom grew up in Dorchester, MA with 6 other brothers and sisters: Kenneth (deceased), Margaret (Sr. Marietta Brown, S.N.D), Carolyn, Joseph, Mickie and Marie. He was formerly married to Norma Brown and Paula Judge (deceased) and was survived by five children. He had nieces and nephews living in London, RI, MA, Colorado and Illinois. Tom attended Boston Latin School high school, received his Bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of Mass and Bentley College and his Masters in Substance Abuse Counseling from Antioch. He worked as a Business Manager at the Cambridge School of Weston and the University of RI (athletic dept.) as well as working in non-profit substance abuse agencies. Sports were a large part of his life. He played baseball, hockey, football and golf. He was a die-hard Boston Red Sox and N.E Patriots fan and enjoyed viewing all sporting events. As an adult he became a long distance runner, completing three Boston and one RI marathon. Toms love for music was evident as he began playing the saxophone and clarinet in elementary school, soloing at the Schillinger House (now Berkley School of Music) at age twelve. He studied the mandolin recently and amassed a magnificent, diverse collection of recorded music. He enjoyed singing at home as well the choir at St. Gregory. He was also a lector and a recent member of the Knights of Columbus. There will be a memorial service held on February 11th at 10:00 am in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesset Rd, Warwick, followed by a collation at the church. In lieu of flowers it was Toms request that donations be made to the St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
