Thelma J. Mendler

Thelma (Jones) Mendler, 80, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away at her home on Friday, May 28, 2021, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald Howard Mendler, whom she married on December 24, 1960, and who died on March 18, 2011.
Born in Wheeler, Kentucky on August 7, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Shelby Jones and the late Vina (Croley) Jones. She was raised and educated in her native Kentucky and was a graduate of Knox High School.
She resided in Attleboro, MA prior to moving to Georgia 12 years ago. Mrs. Mendler was a dedicated and devoted homemaker to her family. Her favorite pastimes included jigsaw puzzles and, in earlier years, playing Scrabble with her husband.
She leaves her two loving children: Ronda L. Hodge and her husband, Hiram Hodge, with whom she made her home in Gainesville, GA; and Derek T. Mendler and his wife, Lisa Mendler, of Attleboro, MA; three grandchildren: Ronald Moorhouse, Jacob Camire and Evann Mendler; her siblings: Retha Akins of Corbin, KY; Jess Jones of Kayjay, KY; Ellis Jones of Corbin, KY; her sister-in-law: Jane L. Merkle of Attleboro, MA, and many extended family members. She was the sister of the late Willard "Blue" Jones.
Family and friends are cordially invited to honor Mrs. Mendler by attending a Celebration of her Life Service on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
At the family's request, only those fully vaccinated may omit face masks. Those not fully vaccinated are kindly requested by the family to wear face masks and practice social distancing.
Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro, MA.
