Thelma L. (Johnson) Gray, 88, of Canterbury Woods, Garfield Avenue, Attleboro; formerly of Old Post Road, North Attleboro, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro where she had been a resident for the past week. She was the wife of the late Howard Brownell "H.B." Gray who died in 1988. Born in East Providence, Rhode Island on August 23, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John and Olive L. (Grant) Johnson. She was raised and educated in East Providence and resided in North Attleboro for more than 50 years prior to moving to Attleboro in May 2014. Mrs. Gray was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church "Old Town" in North Attleboro. Her favorite pastimes included trips to Foxwoods Casino and Resort, playing bingo and playing cards with her friends on Fridays. Mrs. Gray was employed by the Town of North Attleboro School Department as a baker having worked at the Allen Avenue School for many years prior to her retirement. She leaves her daughter: Carol H. McCarthy and her husband, Kenneth McCarthy, of North Attleboro; a son: John H. Gray and his wife, Linda Gray, of Attleboro and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Evelyn M. (Johnson) Mattson and Hope G. (Johnson) King. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Swansea at a later date. Following funeral services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
