Thelma Marion (Giles) Allard, 80, of Oakhill Avenue, Attleboro, died unexpectedly yet peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Allard, Sr. who died in 1995. Born in Rehoboth, Massachusetts on July 4, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Wardell and Lillian (Smith) Giles. She was raised in Rehoboth and resided there until moving to Norton where she lived for four years prior to moving to North Attleboro where she resided for 8 years. She was an Attleboro resident for the past 35 years. Mrs. Allard was employed as a certified nursing assistant at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro for 32 years and then at Canterbury Woods in Attleboro for 12 years prior to retiring five years ago. A woman of strong religious convictions, Mrs. Allard was a member of the Assembly of God in South Attleboro where she enjoyed fellowship and worship services. A faithful woman, she treasured the time spent reading her Bible. Her favorite pastimes included time spent working in her yard but her most treasured times were those spent creating lifelong memories to cherish with her beloved grandchildren. An animal lover, Mrs. Allard was "Mom" to her beloved pug, "Jeremiah" and her late feline companion, "Mittens". She leaves four children: Robert E. Allard, Jr. of Attleboro; Shirley A. Marchand of Attleboro; Kevin W. Allard of Attleboro and Christopher M. Allard of Attleboro; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister: Carol Grant of Taunton; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and her dear canine friend and companion, "Jeremiah". She was the sister of the late Wardell "Bucky" Giles and Edward Giles. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will follow in Newell Burial Ground, South Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service.
