Sylvester Frank Dunning, Jr., 83, of South Attleboro, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. He was the beloved husband of Madeleine F. (Pierce) Dunning, to whom he was married on October 3, 1953.Born on October 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Sylvester F. Dunning, Sr., and Alice (Sankey) Dunning.He was a lifelong resident of South Attleboro. Frank proudly and honorably served our country in the Unites States Army. He worked for more than twenty-five years at H. Carr & Sons in Providence, RI before retiring in 1988.He was a member of the American Legion Post 312 in South Attleboro for many years, and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, with a fondness for growing vegetables, and traveling all of the continental United States in his motor home. His true love was his family.In addition to his wife, Madeleine, he is survived by his three cherished children: Alan R. Dunning, and his wife, June M. (Cleary) Dunning, of South Attleboro, MA; Sharon L. (Dunning) Jermain, and her husband, Peter R. Jermain, of North Attleboro, MA; and Kerri L. (Dunning) Noone of Attleboro, MA. He leaves six treasured grandchildren: Vanessa, Brandon, Ryan, Peter, Alan, and Gevin; and three great-grandchildren: Jahleen, Jordin, and Rachael. He leaves two sisters and two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.Frank was the grandfather of the late Jamie Lynne Jermain.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.Children's room available during visitation.
