Suzanne Lucille Pompei

Suzanne L. (Silva) Pompei, 62, of Berry Street, Norton, died on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. She was the beloved wife of Robert F. Pompei to whom she was married on October 18, 1969. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on July 27, 1948, she was a daughter of Lucille C. (Touzin) Silva of Seekonk and the late Arnold T. Silva. She was a 1966 graduate of Tolman High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Rhode Island College in 1970. Mrs. Pompei resided in Norton for the past 34 years having moved to the community from Mansfield after being raised and educated in Seekonk. She was employed by the Town of Norton as an elementary school teacher having taught in the community since September 1978 at the L. G. Nourse, J. C. Solmonese and H. A. Yelle Elementary Schools. She was a communicant of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Norton. Mrs. Pompei enjoyed outdoor activities including rollerblading, biking, walking and gardening. Her favorite pastimes were those spent in the company of her family and in recent years her cherished grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 41 years and her mother, she leaves two children: Robbie J. Pompei and his wife, Debby (Esperian) Pompei, of Norton and Matthew E. Pompei and his wife, Heidi (Haas) Pompei, of Wrentham; four grandchildren: Sydney N. Pompei of Norton; Kaleigh R. Pompei of Norton; Brayden M. Pompei of Norton and Abigail R. Pompei of Wrentham; a brother: John T. Silva and his wife, Gail Silva, of Laconia, New Hampshire and ten nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Ronnie Silva. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 5:00 8:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 9:00 AM at St. Mary Church, One Power Street, Norton with Rev. Marc P. Tremblay, Pastor, officiating. There will be no funeral cortege leaving the funeral home prior to the commencement of the funeral Mass. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, McArthur Boulevard, Bourne on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11:15 AM. Childrens room available during visitation. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship, refreshments and remembrance at a location to be announced.
