Susan A. Weir (Grimes), 66, of Plainville, MA., passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at Hope Hospice in Providence, RI.
Born on January 2, 1958 in Dorchester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Davis) Grimes.
She was the beloved wife of Patrick Weir for 38 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by her loving sons, Matthew Weir of Plainville, MA., and Christopher Weir of North Attleboro, MA. She is also survived by her devoted sisters, Rita Grimes of Boston, MA., and Alice Michelson and her husband Robert of Braintree, MA., and a cherished niece, Christine Fleming and her husband Jonathan of Randolph, MA. She is also survived by many sister and brother in laws, nieces and nephews.
Susan was employed at Travelers Insurance for approximately 47 years, demonstrating her dedication and commitment to the company. Susan was an active member of her local Weight Watchers group and greatly enjoyed her water aerobics classes. She possessed admirable qualities such as strength, independence, and an active lifestyle, which she often enjoyed by spending time outdoors. Additionally, she had a kind and nurturing personality and made visitors feel like they were part of her own family. Susan took pleasure in walking through natural landscapes, taking trips, and cherishing moments with her loved ones.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
The funeral cortege will begin at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 8:30 am and will proceed to St. Martha's Church, 227 South Street, Plainville, MA., for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her faith and life.
Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Susan's name and honor may be made to The Sisters of St. Joseph Bethany Healthcare Center, 97 Bethany Road, Framingham, MA 01702 or HopeHealth Hospice Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
