Stephen J. Nedder, Sr.

Stephen John Nedder, Sr., 86, of Attleboro, MA; formerly of Norton, MA, passed away peacefully at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro, MA on October 2, 2023, with family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Sandra "Sandy" D. (Gilcoine) Nedder to whom he was married for more than 40 years prior to her passing on June 2, 2018.
Born in Brockton, MA on March 29, 1937, he was a son of the late John G. Nedder, Sr. and the late Minerva (Stevens) Nedder.
He resided in Norton, MA prior to returning to the City of Attleboro in recent years.
Mr. Nedder was a proud veteran of the United States Navy having served from August 13, 1954, until his honorable discharge on January 28, 1958.
He was employed as a machinist for various companies prior to his retirement.
An ardent cribbage player, he also enjoyed time on his computer, spending time at the Norton Senior Center, attending Al Anon meetings and creating lifelong memories with his family and cherished dogs over the years.
He was the father of Joseph S. Nedder and his wife, Christina (Kwok) Nedder, of Carmel, Indiana; David J. Nedder and his wife, Mary T. (Lally) Nedder, of Attleboro, MA; Laura A. Thatcher of Mercer, Maine; Stephen J. Nedder, Jr. and his wife, Melanie M. (Kline) Nedder, of Attleboro, MA and Deirdre A. Nedder of Colorado Springs, Colorado and the late Brenda M. Fricken and her spouse, the late Kathy Ficken.
Mr. Nedder was the grandfather of many grandchildren and great grandchildren and also leaves many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late John G. Nedder, Jr.
Visitation with Veteran's Honors will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am in the "Memorial Chapel".
Committal services with military honors will follow on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 12:45 pm in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA where he will be laid to rest with his late wife, Sandra.
