Stephanie Elizabeth (Curran) Carey, 85, of Georgetown, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2019 surrounded by her family at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Eugene Carey whom she married on June 17, 1972 and who died on August 7, 2002.
Born on September 4, 1934 in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward P. Curran and the late Stephanie E. (Christiansen) Curran.
Raised and educated in Attleboro, she resided in Kentucky for the past sixteen years. She previously lived in Attleboro, in North Attleboro for twelve years, and had been a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Attleboro for many years.
Stephanie worked as a Nurse's Aide at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro from 1968 until 1974, and later as a Private Duty Caregiver. She was employed at the former Mount Vernon Silver Company in Attleboro from 1974 until 1982.
A warm and outgoing woman, she loved to play Poker and Bingo and was a former member of the Red Hat Society and the Emblem Club in Attleboro. Stephanie especially cherished her family and loved spending time with them.
She was the loving mother of Susan J. Brough of Rock Hill, SC; Nancy A. Walker Gates of Georgetown, KY, with whom she made her home; and the late Karen Elaine Rowland, who passed away in 1989. She leaves her dear stepchildren: Gail C. Curry of Jacksonville, FL; Glenn A. Carey of Candia, NH; and the late Brian Paul Carey, who died in 1986. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Stephanie was the sister of Norma Azevedo of Florida; Nancy Lennox of North Attleboro, MA; the late Edward Curran, the late Warren Curran, and the late Alan Curran. She leaves several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Graveside Service for Stephanie and her late daughter, Karen, in North Purchase Cemetery, Route 152 - North Main Street, Attleboro, MA on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. Those in attendance will be invited to join the family for continued fellowship and refreshments at 1:00 p.m. at Morin's Restaurant, South Main Street, Attleboro, MA.
