Stella Halko, 93, of Edgewood Avenue, Attleboro, formerly of South Attleboro, died on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro where she had been a resident since the winter of 2013. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on December 23, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Tessie (Kuruta) Halko. She resided in Bridgeport, Connecticut until moving to Central Falls, Rhode Island where she resided from 1926 - 1935 when she moved to South Attleboro. She remained a resident of the City of Attleboro until moving to Madonna Manor. She was a graduate of Attleboro High School. Ms. Halko was employed as an assembler at Sheldahl in East Providence, Rhode Island for many years prior to her retirement in 1983. She was a woman of strength, courage and independence having been devoted to her family. Ms. Halko leaves her daughter: Donna A. Madden and her husband, Richard C. Madden, Jr., of Attleboro; a granddaughter: Melissa A. Madden of Attleboro; a nephew: Leonard Halko, husband of the late Diane D. (Languirand) Halko, of Attleboro; extended family members and dear friends. Ms. Halko was the sister of the late Jules Halko, Steven Halko, Michael Halko, Peter Halko and John Halko. A private graveside funeral service will be held at North Purchase Cemetery, North Main Street, Attleboro. Burial will follow.
