Stella Halko

Stella Halko, 93, of Edgewood Avenue, Attleboro, formerly of South Attleboro, died on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro where she had been a resident since the winter of 2013. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on December 23, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Tessie (Kuruta) Halko. She resided in Bridgeport, Connecticut until moving to Central Falls, Rhode Island where she resided from 1926 - 1935 when she moved to South Attleboro. She remained a resident of the City of Attleboro until moving to Madonna Manor. She was a graduate of Attleboro High School. Ms. Halko was employed as an assembler at Sheldahl in East Providence, Rhode Island for many years prior to her retirement in 1983. She was a woman of strength, courage and independence having been devoted to her family. Ms. Halko leaves her daughter: Donna A. Madden and her husband, Richard C. Madden, Jr., of Attleboro; a granddaughter: Melissa A. Madden of Attleboro; a nephew: Leonard Halko, husband of the late Diane D. (Languirand) Halko, of Attleboro; extended family members and dear friends. Ms. Halko was the sister of the late Jules Halko, Steven Halko, Michael Halko, Peter Halko and John Halko. A private graveside funeral service will be held at North Purchase Cemetery, North Main Street, Attleboro. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ms. Halko's name may be made to a charity of one's selection.
