Stanley Morton Cobb, Sr.

Stanley Morton Cobb, Sr., 68, of Westchester Drive, Attleboro, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 1, 2013 upon arrival at Sturdy Memorial Hospital after having been stricken ill at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Linda J. (Rouille) Cobb to whom he was married on October 8, 1966. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on December 21, 1944, he was s son of the late Oscar Morton and Thelma C. (Tucker) Cobb. He was a 1963 graduate of King Phillip Regional High School and later attended trade school and was the recipient of a scholarship from the union. Mr. Cobb proudly served in the Massachusetts Reserves for many years with the 483rd Engineering Battalion - Company B. He was a talented contractor and worked in the construction industry his entire career. He was the founder, owner and operator of the former S.M.C. Home Builders for 15 years and retired in 2011 from Custom Design, Inc. of Natick. Mr. Cobb was a member of the Carpenter's Union - Local #535 for more than 40 years. A resident of Attleboro since 1999, he was a former longtime resident of the Town of North Attleboro. He was a proud member of the Attleboro Homebuilders Association where he met countless people whom many would become lifelong friends. His favorite pastimes included spending time maintaining his lawn and property and tinkering and puttering around his garage. He also enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles and loved to go for rides and out to eat with his wife, Linda. In addition to his wife, he leaves four children: Christine M. DuPerry and her husband, Harvey E. DuPerry, of Cranston, Rhode Island; Russell; G. Farris of North Attleboro; Lynne M. Jorge and her husband, Edward M. Jorge, of Taunton and Stanley M. Cobb, Jr. and his wife, Marlo (Ciccone) Cobb, of Framingham. He was the father of the late Robert A. Farris who died in 2000. Among his numerous nieces and nephews, he leaves: Todd J. Rockett and his wife, Amy (Topham) Rockett of Wrentham and Alisha M. Rockett of Attleboro. He was "Poppy" to Hailey, Brody, Kyle, Lauren, Jordyn, Brenna, Nathan, Cory, Angelina and was joyfully awaiting the arrival of Samuel expected this Saturday. He was the brother of Raymond A. Cobb and his wife, Cecile Cobb, of North Attleboro and Richard E. Cobb of Springfield, Missouri. He was the brother -in-law of Robie Cobb of Pompano, Florida, wife of his late brother, Everett Cobb. Mr. Cobb also leaves his wife's siblings: Teresa Rockett of Foxboro; Raymond T. Rouille, Jr. and his wife, Barbara (Rhind) Rouille, in New Hampshire; Michael P. Rouille and his wife, Mary (Shubitowski) Rouille of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the brother-in-law of the late Helen M. Farris who died in 2004. Among his countless friends, he leaves his longtime friends: Linda and Robert Naismith of Attleboro and Kathleen and "Butch" Simpson all of Attleboro. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the nationally historic "Colonel Obed Robinson Home", 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and during the funeral service. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the nationally historic "Colonel Obed Robinson Home", 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will follow in the family plot in North Purchase Cemetery, North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Please do not send flowers at the family request due to an allergy to scented flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit the North Attleboro Kid's Day Fund.
