Shirley Mae Snyder

Shirley Mae (Stevens) Snyder, 95, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Joseph Snyder Sr., to whom she was married on June 29, 1945 and who passed away on September 26, 2011.
Born on April 27, 1924 in New Kensington, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Stevens and the late Edythe (Bole) Stevens.
A graduate of Arnold (PA) High School, she continued her education at Grove City College and received her nursing degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. She also belonged to the Cadet Nurse Corps. Shirley worked for several years as a Registered Nurse for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA, before retiring to raise her family.
A resident of Attleboro since 1955, she previously lived in North Attleboro, MA from 1950 until 1955.
An active, engaging, and outgoing woman, she was a member of the American Association of University Women and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Shirley and her late husband loved spending time at the ocean and especially enjoyed their time in Sanibel Island, FL. More than anything, she cherished her beloved family.
She was the loving mother of Sherry Snyder and her husband, Michael McGeary, of Santa Fe, NM; Thomas Joseph Snyder Jr. and his wife, Saundra, of Charlotte, NC; Gregory Lee Snyder and his wife, Bernadette, of San Clemente, CA; Bruce Alan Snyder of Attleboro, MA; and Gary John Snyder and his wife, Kate, of Seekonk, MA. She was the proud grandmother of Derek Snyder, Shannon Maynard, Zachary McGeary, Zoe McGeary, Melissa Bowley, Tyler Snyder, Ashley Snyder, Austin Snyder, Dr. Hilary Snyder Neves, and Jeffrey Snyder; and the adoring great-grandmother of Asha Snyder, Shayna Snyder, Jaxson Maynard, Jamison Maynard, Noa Esme McGeary, Eden Simone McGeary, Lurah Belle Neves, Ava Bowley, Alexis Bowley, and Remy Mae Pfenning.
Private visitation and funeral services will be held at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Private Graveside Services will be held in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, at which time Shirley will be laid to rest alongside her dear late husband, Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Shirley to Community VNA Hospice, 10 Emory Street, Attleboro, MA.
