SHIRLEY L. (SHEPARD) O'NEAL, 75 Accomplished Musician Shirley L. (Shepard) O'Neal, 75, of Belmont Street, Taunton, died under hospice care on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Morton Medical Center and Hospital in Taunton following a lengthy illness that worsened in December 2012. Born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on June 13, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Wayman Shepard and the late Luella (Allen) Shepard Jacques. She was raised and educated in Port Fairfield, Maine and resided in Taunton for more than 50 years. As an accomplished rhythm guitarist and vocalist, Ms. O'Neal was a professional musician and served as the manager of the former Shirl & the Dominos having played at events throughout the region for more than 27 years. Her family and music were of most importance to her but her love for the Boston Red Sox was paramount. She leaves two children: Cathy L. Butt of Litchfield, Arizona and Steven W. O'Neal and his wife, Lisa (Botelho) O'Neal, of Taunton; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; five sisters: Florence Barnes in Florida; Selina Hamlyn in Florida; Bonnie Howell in Texas; Charlene MacKenzie in Canada and Christine McNeal in Florida and several extended family members and friends. She was the mother of the late Ivan W. O'Neal, Jr. who died in 2003. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, June 13, 2013 - Her 76th Birthday - from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the nationally historic "Colonel Obed Robinson Home", 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation. Funeral services and burial will be conducted privately.
