Shirley Cruz

January 10, 1939 — June 5, 2021

Shirley Irene (Rock) Cruz, 82, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 5, 2021, with her family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Frank Cruz, whom she married on August 8, 1956.
Born on January 10, 1939, in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Rock and the late Florence (Cloutier) Rock.
She attended Tolman High School in Pawtucket before becoming a lifelong resident of Attleboro.
Shirley worked at Babcock and Shields Company in Attleboro for five years. She cherished her role as a homemaker for her family and for many of her grandchildren and for Russell Bergevine.
A woman of faith, she was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Stephen's Church in Attleboro, and upon its closing, of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Seekonk, MA.
Shirley enjoyed traveling with Frank, having explored most of the East Coast from Key West, FL into Canada.  She was an avid reader; enjoyed going out to dinner; visiting the casinos at Foxwoods, Atlantic City, and Las Vegas; listening to music; and ballroom dancing with Frank.   She held a special place in her heart for grand-dogs: "Freddie" and "Hazel".
The center of Shirley's world was always her family and, more than anything, she treasured spending as much time as possible with them.
In addition to her husband, Frank, she leaves her loving children: Deborah J. Cruz of Attleboro, MA; Frank Cruz and his wife, Tonia, of Wareham, MA; Randy R. Cruz and his wife, Karen Christianson of Plainville, MA; and Kimberly Flynn of Attleboro, MA.  She was the proud and adoring grandmother of fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Robert Rock of Pawtucket, and his late wife, Eileen; Judith Bergevine and her husband, Oscar Bergevine, of Debary, FL; and the late Richard Rock and his wife, Elaine Rock, of Norton, MA. She leaves her loving and thoughtful sister-in-law, Constance Pineo and her husband, Warren Pineo, of Attleboro, MA; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
