Shannon Marie West

Shannon Marie (McManus) West, 46, of North Attleboro, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. Born on December 21, 1970 in Albany, GA, she was the daughter of Robert E. McManus and the late Patricia (Sheridan) McManus.A graduate of North Kingstown High School, RI, Class of 1988, she studied Accounting at the University of Rhode Island, and Leadership Training at Springfield College. Shannon was certified in personal training, Servsafe, and with the Livestrong program at the YMCA.She most recently worked as a Restaurant Manager at Greene's Tavern, and had previously enjoyed working for many years as a Member Experience Director for the Hockomock YMCA in Foxboro, MA. Shannon worked as a Bar Manager and Lead Bartender for Terminessi's Restaurant in Narragansett, RI, and as a Manager of Pick Pocket's Deli and Restaurant in Wakefield, RI. A resident of North Attleboro since 2001 where she was a member of Sacred Heart Church, she previously lived in North Kingstown, RI. A warm and compassionate woman, she had a wonderful sense of humor, a loud and infectious laugh, and would lend a caring motherly hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed cooking, baking, painting murals, loved the color orange and spending time outdoors, especially being on the water and at the beaches of Cape Cod and in East Wareham. An athletic woman, she actively participated in many sports, including road races, a kickball league, mud races, and water and snow skiing. Shannon was a member of the Hockomock YMCA in Foxboro and was involved in the Livestrong program there, as she was with the annual Relays for Life. More than anything, though, Shannon simply loved being with her family and truly had a love of life. In addition to her dear father, she is survived by cherished children: Emory Patrick West and Dillon Robert West, both of Franklin, MA. She was the loving sister of John F. McManus of Long Island, NY; Robert E. McManus and his wife, Kathy, of Waynetown, IN; and Erin P. Gray and her husband, Todd, of Sanford, FL. She leaves one niece, several nephews and cousins, and many dear friends. Shannon was the former wife of Ronald L. West of Franklin, MA. Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Shannon by gathering for a Visitation on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
