Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on May 29, 1962, he moved to North Attleboro as a young boy and was raised and educated in the community and remained a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of the former Bryant College.

He was the son of the late John McKenna and the late Constance (Costa) McKenna.

He joined the North Attleboro Police Department in December of 1984 and proudly served and protected his community until his retirement as a Sergeant in June 2019.

Mr. McKenna was a communicant of the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mary.

Proud of his Irish heritage, he often traveled to Ireland and was often seen sitting at the "Yummy Corner" at his favorite restaurant, the Chieftain in Plainville.

He was a hockey enthusiast at an early age and excelled in cooking with some of his favorite creations being prime rib, clams casinos and meatballs.

After retiring from the N.A.P.D., he was employed as a groundskeeper at the Walpole Country Club where he also enjoyed playing many rounds of golf.

He was eagerly expecting the arrival of his first grandchild, Claire Poland.

His greatest accomplishment and legacy will be that of being a devoted and caring father to his children.

Left to mourn his loss are his children: Brendan McKenna and his wife, Katie McKenna, of Taunton, MA and Meaghan Poland and her husband, Bobby Poland, of Salem, MA; his siblings: Randy McKenna, Jon McKenna, Chad McKenna and Julie McKenna all of North Attleboro, MA and several nieces and nephews, extended family members, dear friends and former colleagues.
