Sean Raymond Sumner, 50, of Maple Street, Attleboro, died on Friday, February 3, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was the husband of Regina A. (Nolin) Sumner to whom he was married on May 9, 2011. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on February 25, 1961, he was a son of Harold L. Sumner of Harwich Port, Massachusetts and the late and Joan A. (Carey) Sumner. Raised and educated in Attleboro, Mr. Sumner was a 1980 graduate of Attleboro High School. He remained a lifelong resident of the City of Attleboro. Mr. Sumner, along with his father, was the co-owner and operator of Carey Brothers, Inc. in Attleboro where he served as vice president and master engineer having worked for the family business since age 16. In addition to being a jewelry engineer, Mr. Sumner owned and operated Seascape Landscaping for one year and was a lumberjack. A sports enthusiast, he was a dedicated fan of the Boston Bruins, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox. His favorite pastimes included time spent reading, listening to AM radio on his headphones, working on trees and being creative with jewelry design and production. In addition to his wife and father, Mr. Sumner leaves four children: Seth H. Sumner of Attleboro; Paige M. Sumner of Attleboro; Stephanie J. Duby of North Attleboro and Sean E. Duby of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; a brother: Carey H. Sumner of Providence, Rhode Island; three sisters: Erin P. Dufresne of Taunton; Shannon M. Sumner of Rehoboth and Kara J. Sumner of Harwich Port; his mother-in-law: Patricia A. Nolin of Attleboro; his canine companion: Ruffuss and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Ted N. Sumner. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 1:00 2:45 PM in the Memorial Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral immediately following visitation on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Richard M. Roy, Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, North Main Street, Attleboro, officiating. Burial will be private. Childrens room available during visitation and the funeral. Carey Brothers, Inc. will be closed all day on Friday, February 10, 2012 in remembrance of Mr. Sumner. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit research and development of esophageal cancer.
