Sara Ann (Beyer) Saalfelder, also affectionately known as Sally and Poppins, 75, of Carroll Avenue, Westwood, died on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after having been stricken ill on Friday, November 25, 2011. She was the wife of Edward H. Saalfelder, Jr. to whom she was married on May 4, 1980. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 29, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Leonard J. and Rita L. (Timmons) Beyer. She was a graduate of Norwood High School. Mrs. Saalfelder was a resident of Westwood for 70 years. She enjoyed many years as a part-time resident of Hog Island, Rhode Island where she and her family created countless memories. She was employed for more than 40 years as a cashier at Roche Brothers in Westwood. Mrs. Saalfelder was a communicant of St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in the Islington section of Westwood. An ardent bowler for decades, she was a member of the Norwood Seniors Bowling League. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, solving puzzles and collecting Coach Pocketbooks. In addition to her husband of 31 years, she leaves two children: John P. Lynch and his wife, Carol (Cash) Lynch, of Attleboro and Judith A. MacLean and her husband, Stuart W. MacLean, of Norton; three grandchildren: Ryan A. MacLean and Lindsay A. MacLean both of Norton and Amanda L. Lynch of Attleboro; a sister: Patricia Wolfe of South Attleboro; a brother: Steven Beyer of Weymouth; her sister-in-law: Linda Beyer, wife of her late brother: Gregory Beyer, of Millis and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 5:00 8:00 PM in the Commonwealth Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Funeral services and burial will be private. Childrens room available during visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones selection.
