Sandra J. Hannan (Peterson) 82, of Plainville, MA., passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas P. Hannan and mother of the late Thomas Nixon.
Born on December 31, 1940, in Pawtucket, RI; she was the daughter of the late Richard C. Peterson and Olive Jerome Leroux.
Sandra was very generous with her time for her family and friends, and even strangers. She always had excellent advice, whether it be financial or love. Sandra loved to tell funny stories. She enjoyed pranks on each other and was never afraid to laugh at her self. Her heart was an open book and offered the pages generously whenever someone needed her.
Sandra was involved as a real estate agent. Her entrepreneurial spirit was what we will always remember. Right up into her 80s she was still buying and selling houses.
Sandra loved holidays. We all remember the piles of Christmas gifts under the tree all labeled with big black magic marker and a huge easter basket filled with soup or peanut butter on Easter. She loved to see our reactions when we open them and she would get the biggest kick out of it.
Sandra loved to dress up. She had a good taste in fashion. She knew how to put an outfit together and look incredibly beautiful on her own style. We remember she would get all dolled up and head out for a black tie event right after working with tools.
Not only was Sandy beautiful but she was also a great artist. Whether it be painting or crafting. She loved to take an item from the yard sales or flea markets that was damaged and rebuild it or paint it and it was most often better than the original. Her favorite gifts to receive were tools and she used them like a pro.
Sandra is survived by her loving children, Robert Nixon and his wife Ann Marie of North Attleboro, MA., Dennis Nixon of Buzzards Bay, MA., Leslie Gillis and her husband David of Albany, GA, Sean T. Hannan and his wife Panita of Attleboro, MA., and step-daughter, Deborah Grumoli and her husband Mark of Hadley, MA.; and devoted siblings, Patricia Hayes of Pawtucket, RI and Gary Leroux of Virginia.
