Sally Ann (Obie) Patch, 87, of North Attleboro, MA passed away on October 13, 2024, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA in the presence of her beloved husband, Benjamin. She was the wife of Benjamin P. Patch to whom she was married for 62 years.
Born in the village of Bellows Falls, Vermont on May 31,1937, she was a daughter of the late Richard E. Obie and the late Fannie E. (Downs) Obie. She was educated in Springfield, Vermont having graduated from the town high school in 1955.
She was a dedicated and devoted homemaker to her husband and to raising her five sons. She will be remembered for maintaining a pristine home and her abilities as a great cook.
Always active in her children's activities and the community, she served as a cub den mother and was a member of the Falls Association Kids Fair, now known as Firefighters' Kids Day, which raised money for the children of North Attleboro.
A devout Catholic, she was a longtime communicant of the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark's where she contributed hand-made crafts and volunteered for the annual church fair and was a member of the Women's group.
A talented craftswoman, she enjoyed creating ceramics, crocheting, knitting, sewing, gold leaf painting, photography, applique and quilting. She was a member of the Narragansett Bay Quilters and the Smithfield (RI) Senior Quilters. An adult education teacher, she also taught old-fashioned rug hooking and was an award-winning rug hooker at the Eastern States Fair.
She enjoyed the days spent conversing with her friends as part of the Monday McDonalds Coffee Group.
Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she treasured the weekly Thursday night dinners with her grandchildren.
Sally's favorite pastimes included time spent at the beach, particularly Second Beach in Middletown, Rhode Island and loved to travel having visited 45 states in the country.
In addition to her husband, she leaves four sons: Raymond W. Patch and his wife, Donna, of Rumford, RI; Brian D. Patch and his partner, Christine Mattera of Barrington, RI; Michael E. Patch and his wife, Denise, of Seekonk, MA; Richard B. Patch and his partner , Susan White of North Attleboro; her daughter-in-law: Joanne Patch of North Attleboro, MA, wife of her late son, Edwin C. Patch; her cherished grandchildren: Benjamin; Tyler and his wife, Jackie; Evan; Christopher and his wife, Meagan; Conner and his wife, Madison; Stephen and his wife, Katherine; Nathan and his wife, Jenna; Matthew and his wife, Katherine; Austin; Brendan; Megan and Mikayler; seven great grandchildren; her brother: Philip Obie from Goose Creek, South Carolina and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Family and friends are warmly welcome to attend Visitation on Sunday, October 20, 2024, anytime from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
All are welcome to join the funeral cortege on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 8:45 a.m. from the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark's, Stanley Street, North Attleboro, MA.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Towne Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Sally to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via jimmyfund.org/gift.
