Ruth Audrey (O'Keefe) Smith, 95, of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late John Francis Smith who died on October 11, 1977.Born on September 28, 1922 in Malden, MA, she was the daughter of the late Timothy Richard O'Keefe and the late Catherine (Sullivan) O'Keefe.A graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1940, Ruth attended one year of business school and worked for many years as a real estate investor before retiring.A resident of North Attleboro since 1954 where she was a member of St. Mary's Church, she previously lived in Malden, MA. Ruth was an active and hardworking woman deeply committed to her family, especially her son, Chris, and to her career, including her family's business. She was a longtime member of the St. Mary's Guild and the Catholic Women's Club. She is survived by her loving son, Christopher J. Smith of North Attleboro, MA, and her sisters: Catherine T. Stoner of Manchester by the Sea, MA, and Rosemary M. Lynch of Medford, MA. She was predeceased by her siblings: Dorothy R. Bishop; Beatrice M. Ward; Timothy R. O'Keefe, who died in his childhood; and Vincent O'Keefe, who died in his infancy. She leaves many nieces and nephews; her dear friend, Barbara A. Orlando of Mansfield, MA; and her caretaker and dear friend, Patricia Mello-Blake, of South Attleboro, MA. Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Ruth by gathering for a Visitation on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial following the visitation on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, North Attleboro, MA.
