Ruth Esther Hanna, 84, of Wasaga Road, Pawtucket, RI, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. She was the beloved wife of the late Philip A. MacKay who died on May 24, 1978. Born in Boston, MA on July 1, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Hanna and Bertha (Kramer) Hanna. Ruth was employed as a Nurse's Aid for more than 25 years at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro, MA, and then for several years as a Greeter at Walmart. She also volunteered her time at the Thrift Shop in Attleboro. Ruth was active at the Attleboro Senior Center, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as watching television and babysitting her great- grandchildren. She especially delighted in time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, and in playing games with her cherished great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Scott A. MacKay of Austin, TX; her daughter, Lynne S. Buswell of Pawtucket, RI, with whom she made her home; her brother, Herbert Hanna of ME; her sisters, Leslie Conti of OH, Alyce Ortiz of Brockton, MA, and Elizabeth Ramos of AZ; and her brother James Hanna of Norwood, MA. She leaves six grandchildren: Rachel L. Buswell, Jason P. Buswell, Sara R. Buswell, Hanna L. O'Neal and her husband, Brian P. Hutchinson, Sr., Anna MacKay-Brandt, and Jason Danue; ten great-grandchildren: Haley, Zachary, Brian P. Hutchinson, Jr., Brayden, Madison, Zoey, Lewis, James, Allie, and Samantha, and looked forward to the birth of her newest great-granddaughter. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; her extended family; and her caring companions, "Lily" and "Lukie". Ruth was the sister of the late Arthur Hanna, Phyllis Beam, Louise Pugh and Harold Spencer. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
