Ruth M. Duarte, 61, of Fall River passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

One of five children, Ruth was born in Praia, Cape Verde. She was the daughter of the late Luciano Mendes Teixeira and Alina Cabral Medina.

Ruth was a high school graduate. In 1998, she immigrated to the USA in search of a better life. Here she worked in factories, housekeeping, and her last occupation being a homemaker. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing, dancing, and listening to Zouk-Antilles music. Everyone knew her for her bold fashion style, great cooking skills, and generous spirit.

Ruth is survived by her children, Louise (Duarte) Chavez, her husband Marcos Chavez, Alessandra Hernandez, Mario Dosantos, Benjamin Dosantos, and Joziane Evora. She also leaves behind four grandchildren.
