Russell H. Nelson, 90, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Harry and Anne (Flodin) Nelson and the beloved husband of the late Carlene (Lindberg) Nelson, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and adventure.

A proud graduate of Cranston High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology, Russell followed his passion for engineering and design throughout his career. He proudly volunteered and served in Army from 1953 to 1956 working as a Machinist. As a machine tool designer, he contributed his skill and creativity to several companies, including Fram, Grinnell, McPherson Tool, and Brown & Sharpe. In retirement, he found joy in running his own business, Wall‑Pro, where he met wonderful people and took pride in his work wallpapering and painting.

Russell's love for the water began in his youth, fishing and boating on Narragansett Bay with his father. A lifelong member of the RI Saltwater Fisherman Club, he passed that love on to his children, teaching each of them to fish and appreciate the beauty of the Bay.

He was admitted as a Mason in 1963 and remained a dedicated 32‑degree member of Harmony Lodge No. 9 F. & A. M. Known for his calm, steady presence and dry sense of humor, Russell was the patriarch of his family - a man who cherished cooking holiday meals (his beef stew was legendary), celebrating Christmas as the family's "original Santa" for 45 years, and attending every activity and sporting event his children participated in.

Above all, Russell treasured time spent with his family - traveling with Carlene, gathering for holidays, and watching his grandchildren grow.

He is survived by his children: Ross L. Nelson and his wife Ceri, Jeffrey R. Nelson and his wife Brooke, Matthew B. Nelson and his wife Alexandria.

He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Sara Creighton (Jake), Emma Nelson, Anna Nelson, Bradford Nelson, Eric Nelson, Ashley Nelson, Aaron Nelson, and Axel Nelson, and great‑grandchildren Connor, Henry, and Jack, along with many loving relatives and friends.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend Visitation on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer‑Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA. Burial will be private.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 29th at 10:00 AM at Beacon Covenant Church, North Main Street, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beacon Covenant Church at beaconcov.org/give.
