Russell Martin Healey, 78, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Janice M. (Soule) Healey, whom he married on April 19, 1968.
Born on July 24, 1942 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Frederick Healey and the late Elizabeth T. (Brown) Healey.
Raised and educated in Canton, MA, he previously lived in Mansfield, MA before residing in Attleboro for the past forty-seven years. Russell proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War, and worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Lorusso Corporation for thirty years before his retirement.
A warm, outgoing man with a quick smile, he enjoyed motorcycles; hunting; fishing; camping; taking cruises with Janice, especially to Bermuda and to Alaska; and simply tinkering in his shed. He held a special place in his heart for all animals, especially cats, and had a way about him that kids of all ages loved. The true center of Russell's world was his family, and he cherished every moment he could spending time with them.
In addition to his wife, Janice, he leaves his loving children: Darrin L. Healey and his wife, Melissa (Phalen) Healey, of Canton, MA; and Laurel Jean Healey of Attleboro, MA. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of Hannah Lynes of Attleboro, MA; Alicia Healey of Canton, MA; and Bryan Healey of Canton, MA. Russell was the brother of Robert Healey and his wife, Charlene (Bernhardy) Healey, of Stoughton, MA; and was predeceased by his siblings: Ronald Healey, Richard Healey, and Sharon (Healey) Zeph. He leaves his half-siblings: Dennis Healey of Floral City, FL; Donna Healey Williams of Hernando, FL; and his step-sister, Denise Healey of Gainesville, FL; his sister-in-law, Gayle Waldron of North Attleboro, MA; as well as his extended family and many dear friends.
Due to the pandemic, visitation has been respectfully omitted.
A Private Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton, MA.
