Russell "Russ" Bryan Drolet, 57, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of Jean D. (Doran) Drolet, to whom he was married on May 13, 2006.
Born on September 20, 1961 in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Honore P. Drolet and the late Leona J. (Merow) Drolet.
A graduate of William E. Tolman High School in Pawtucket, he received his Bachelor's degree from Rhode Island College. Russ was employed in the field of computer programming for various businesses and for fifteen years as a scientist for Siemen Healthcare Diagnostics in Norwood, MA, before he retired.
A resident of Attleboro for the past twenty years, he previously lived in Pawtucket.
Russ was a kind, warm-hearted, outgoing, and generous man. He loved cooking and took found pleasure in cooking for friends and family and for those experiencing hardship in their lives. He enjoyed travel, playing board games, music, and attending concerts and the theater. Russ loved Star Trek and all things science fiction. He could always be counted on to give the best gifts, especially at Christmastime, and was truly the most wonderful Santa Claus to his nieces and nephews. Russ will be greatly missed by his many friends who were like his second family, and by his faithful companion, "Loki".
In addition to his best friend and loving wife, Jean, he leaves his sister, Norma of Rhode Island; his nieces and nephews, and many, many dear friends, especially Steve Martins of Seekonk, MA and Janice Berard Aubin of Blackstone, MA. He was the brother of the late Honore "Paul" Drolet and the late Courtney Drolet.
Friends and relatives are cordially invited to honor and remember Russ at a Memorial Gathering and Celebration on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 p.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.
A Private Graveside Service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 in Seekonk Cemetery, Seekonk, MA, at which time Russ will be laid to rest alongside his late parents and other beloved family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Russ to the Friends of the Attleboro Animal Shelter, 27 Pond St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
