Russell Edward Adams

Russell E. Adams, 78 Russell E. Adams, 78, of Holcott Drive, Attleboro died on June 5, 2011 at the Golden Living Center of Attleboro after a long struggle with Parkinsons Disease. He was the beloved husband of Nancy R. (Libby) Adams following their marriage, fifty-four years ago. Born in Pawtucket, RI on November 24, 1932, he was the son of the late George E. and Katherine J. (Salecki) Adams. He graduated from Pawtucket East High School in 1950, and attended the Rhode Island School of Design. He served as a corporal in the Army and served two years in Germany during the Korean War era. He worked for the Foxboro Company, now the Invensys Corporation, for 28 years as a project engineer and draftsman in the instrumentation and electronics field. He was an active member of the Masonic Order, and recently received his 50 year medal exactly 50 years from the day he was raised to the 3rd Degree. He served in many capacities throughout the years as a member of the Bristol Lodge A.F. & A.M. of North Attleboro, the King Hiram Royal Arch Chapter, the Grand Royal Arch Chapter, the Attleboro Council of Royal & Select Master Masons and Bristol Commandery K.T. #29 in Attleboro. He was also affiliated with KYCH, MA Priory #52, Mayflower York Rite College #105, the Order of the Purple Cross, the Knight Masons and a member of the Valley of S.E. Mass Scottish Rite and Past Dad Advisor of the former Attleboro Chapter of the Order of Rainbow for Girls. He received the Grand Cross of Color along with his daughters and wife at Grand Assembly for Rainbow Girls. He was also a Shriner, affiliated with the Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington, MA. He was very active in the Handicap Commission in Attleboro and served as its chairperson for ten years until illness caused him to give up the position, though he did stay on as an advisor for a few years afterwards. Russell was an avid sports fan and attended Attleboro High Schools basketball and football games for many years. In addition to his wife, he leaves three children: Wendy R. Adams of Attleboro, Timothy E. Adams of Attleboro, and Bethany J. Correia of Salem, NH; four grandchildren: Kyla B. Maranda, Matthew A. Correia, Jonathan R. Correia and Nicole R. Correia; one great grandchild: Courtney Lee Maranda; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings Robert E. Adams and Elsie J. (Adams) Krawiec. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. A private service will be held by the family at a later date. Please do not send flowers.
