Rosemary Baxter

May 25, 1941 — April 30, 2021

Rosemary "Rose" (Smith) Baxter, 79, passed into eternal glory with the Lord she loves so much on Friday, April 30, 2021, at home under hospice care after a long illness, all while being tenderly cared for by her family.
Born on May 25, 1941 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Mark Allen Smith and the late Mary Smith.
Rose grew up in Wrentham, MA, and graduated from King Philip High School, Class of 1959.  She then furthered her education at Quincy College and obtained her teaching degree.  One of her first jobs was for the Educational Division of Damon Engineering, from where she often brought educational board games home to try with her nieces and nephews, much to their delight.  She served in management at Liberty Mutual as an office manager for several years.  She then transitioned into real estate management and enjoyed a long and successful career investing, owning, and operating multiple properties.
Beyond her career as a successful entrepreneur, Rose found great satisfaction, inspiration, and joy in helping and guiding others so they could achieve peace and prosperity and a relationship with Jesus Christ.  She immensely enjoyed large family gatherings and joking and roasting, always arriving on the late side with a fun and greatly anticipated entrance!
Rose married her husband, Walter Baxter, in March 1986 in North Attleboro, MA.  She was an active member of New Hope Christian Church in Seekonk, MA, for many years, heading up a loving, thoughtful prayer ministry.
Her beloved dog, Olive, lived well into old age due to Rose's tender loving care.
Rose was a loving and devoted wife to Walter, who predeceased her in 2009.  She was beloved stepmother to Dorothy Grieve, Prudence Baxter, Walter S. Baxter, and Jordan Baxter; grandmother to Anne Marie Koczynski, Tuezdae Grieve, Andrea Grieve, Crystal Grieve, Morgan Baxter, Jacob Baxter, and Jordan "JB" Baxter; great-grandmother to Juliana, Devon, and Atari.  She was a loving aunt to Diane McElwee and husband, David; Dawn Welsh and husband, Rob; Amy Mohan and husband, Dave; David Doherty and wife, Jessica; Mark Doherty and partner, Addison; Peter Smith and wife, Tiffany; Sean Smith and wife, Toni.  She was a grand aunt to Glen McElwee and wife, Nikita; Alyssa McElwee; Karen Munoz and husband, Jonathan; Craig McElwee; the late Amanda Doherty; as well as Evan and Elle.  She was a great-grand aunt to Beau, June, Katelyn, Ryan, and Ayla.  Rose was a loving and dear devoted sister to MarySue Doherty and husband, Dave; Allen Smith and wife, Bonnie; and Bruce Smith and wife, Nila.
