Rose M. (Calabrese) Fontaine, 87, of Park Street, Attleboro; formerly of East Washington Street, North Attleboro, died on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a brief illness as her family gathered by her bedside. She was the wife of Gerard L. Fontaine to whom she married in May of 1947. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 4, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Saverio and Mary (Alberico) Calabrese. She was raised and educated in Providence and resided on Mercy Street in the Silver Lake neighborhood for many years prior to moving to North Attleboro in 2001 and to the Life Care Center of Attleboro in 2010. Mrs. Fontaine was employed as an assembler in the jewelry industry for many years prior to her retirement. In Providence, Mrs. Fontaine was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church and since residing in North Attleboro attended St. Mark Roman Catholic Church. In earlier years she enjoyed sewing and making clothing and continued to enjoy playing bingo and cards. In addition to her husband of 65 years, she leaves three children: Raymond G. Fontaine of Myrtle Beach, North Carolina; Judith R. Fontaine of Myrtle Beach, North Carolina and Kathryn M. LaBrie and her husband, William LaBrie, of Attleboro; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a brother: Carlo Calabrese of Providence and several extended family members. Private visitation and funeral services will be held in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will be private. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral.
