Rose Miriam (Carr) Duffany, known simply and lovingly as Miriam,89, of Christopher Heights, South Main Street, Attleboro; formerly of Glendale Road, Attleboro, died on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Larry Norman Duffany to whom she was married on December 20, 1943 and who died on Saturday, July 7, 2007. Born in the Manville section of Lincoln, Rhode Island on May 28, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Ellen (Laffan) Carr. She was a 1940 graduate of St. Claire High School in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and later attended business college. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Duffany was employed as a bookkeeper for Swank, Inc. in Attleboro for 8 years and in later years was employed as a bookkeeper for the former Lisach Shoe Company in Brockton. A resident of Attleboro for more than 40 years, Mrs. Duffany was a former resident of Devon, Connecticut and East Bridgewater. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls section of North Attleboro where she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Womens Guild. Mrs. Duffany will be lovingly remembered by her family as a dedicated and loyal matriarch who treasured the time spent creating lifelong memories with each of them. Among her many interests were gardening, reading and dancing. She adored spending time traveling between her two residences including the one in Falmouth and the other in Largo, Florida of which she had spent time with her husband for more than 50 years. She leaves three children: Liesse (Duffany) Slemon of Seekonk, MA; Sue Ellen (Duffany) Lexier of Skowhegan, Maine; Sally A. (Duffany) Connor of Attleboro, MA; two sisters: Ellen P. Mansfield in North Carolina and Suzie Kavanagh of Falmouth; a brother: Martin Carr of Seekonk; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was the mother of the late Rosemarie Duffany who passed away in 1994 and was the sister of the late Sally McNally, David Carr and Joseph Carr. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 5:00 8:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Thomas Frechette, Pastor and Rev. Thomas Rita, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, co-officiating. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Duffanys name may be made to the charity of ones preference.
