Rose M. (Doucette) Dion, 84, of Madonna Manor, North Washington Street, North Attleboro, died on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Madonna Manor where she had resided for the past 14 months. She was the wife of the late Robert William Dion to whom she was married for 47 years prior to his death on January 14, 2002. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on January 20, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Armand and Marie Blanche (Pelletier) Doucette. She was raised and educated in Attleboro where she attended Attleboro Public Schools before moving to Norton in 1955. She resided on Sturdy Street in Norton until returning to her native community of Attleboro in 2011 when she moved into Canterbury Woods where she enjoyed her time there until moving to Madonna Manor 14 months ago. Along with her family, she was affiliated with St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Norton and during her childhood she was a communicant of the former St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in the Dodgeville section of Attleboro. For several years, she was employed at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Brockton until her retirement. She also worked at Wheaton College, Kilburn Glass, General Metals Fabrication, R & S Silkscreen in Norton and at her first job at Bobby's Ice Cream Shop in Attleboro. She was happiest when surrounded by her loving family reminiscing and sharing stories. In recent years, her beloved cat, Zoe, brought her great comfort and company. She leaves seven children: Deborah Fournier, wife of the late David Fournier, of Attleboro; Donna Davis, companion of Edward Lamoreaux, of Attleboro; Mary Jane Laprise and her husband, Al Laprise, of Norton; Rosemarie "Tete" Ryan and her husband, Michael Ryan, of Stoughton; Claudia Dion and her companion Corby Cavalieri, of Pawtucket; William R. Dion of Norfolk, Virginia and Timothy D. Dion and his fiancé, Kari Machetti, of Seekonk; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; her siblings: Ann Goulet of Mashpee; Eugene Doucette of Newport News, Virginia; Noela Pino of Attleboro; Paul Doucette of Attleboro; Donald Doucette of Attleboro and Dani Medeiros of Fall River and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Joanne Doucette. Rose's family would like to thank the staff of Madonna Manor and Canterbury Woods for their care of our mother and especially the loving care provided to our Mom by Michelle, "the Little One" Munns. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. A private committal service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, where Rose will be laid to rest with her husband.
